What determines computation time?

Hello,

I have two different models, one uses the MFH module to calculate the magnetic field of a superconductor, while the other uses coupled MFH and MFNC modules to calculate the same magnetic field. Apart for the physics nodes, both models are setup exactly the same: the definitions, the meshes, the discretization and the studies are equivalent. The coupled MFH and MFNC model requires less than half the degrees of freedom as the MFH only model, since it uses nodal elements in the air regions, as opposed to edge elements. However, the computation time for both are pretty much equivalent.

My question is, what else can influence the computation times here? Would the coupling between the MFH and MFNC modules cause greater computation times?

Thank you,

Alex
