How do I simulate a rigid ball impacting a cantilever beam?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,I am new to COMSOL and I am trying to build a model of a small steel ball impacting a Piezoelectric cantilever beam, similar to the figure .I have not been able to find any tutorials or examples that explain how to get started with this.Could anyone help get me started? In addition, I also want to know if comsol can simulate this collision process.I think I know how to build the geometry but do not know what physics modules I should be using or how to give the steel ball velocity.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

this is a test model I made years ago to get familiar with contacts. May be it can help to get started. Of course you will need to adapt to your materials and probably also the contact parameters. Here the ball is falling due to gravity and is impinging on the plate.

Cheers Edgar

Thank you very much. Your model is really helpful to me. Do you have more models about the small ball impacting the cantilever beam? I may be a little greedy, but I still want to try it.I really appreciate you very much and wish you well.

Sorry this is the only test of this kind I did.

Good luck Edgar
