Hello
I ran a geomechanical model and I got this Error "Error in elPlastic element. - Detail: Lambda non positive for plastic point" , Could anyone tell me why this error happens. I used soil plasticity model.

Hi Kimia,
have you managed to solve this problem? I seem to be getting this as well when using the Linear Elastic Material model where one material has plasticity. When the generated stress reaches the initial yield stress, I get this error.

Any help would be appreciated.

This “Lambda” is used to calculate the amount of plastic strain such that the stress remains on the yield surface. I have seen this error when the time step size (or load increment in stationary analysis) is too big, or when convergence tolerances are too loose.
