COMSOL Server™
Application Load Times Up to 5 Times Faster
The performance of COMSOL Server™ has been improved overall. Administrators can optimize specific app load times by choosing to preload them via the new Prelaunching section of the preferences page. By default, COMSOL Server™ automatically preloads the app that was run most recently.
Together, these improvements make applications start up to five times faster.
Improved Usability for Servers with a Single Application
You can now specify that a single app should be used in a COMSOL Server™ installation. With this option enabled, users do not need to use the Application Library first; the selected app is launched as soon as they log in.
Launch Applications in COMSOL Client from a Browser
Launch an app directly in COMSOL Client through the COMSOL Server™ interface by clicking on the drop-down menu and selecting “Launch in COMSOL Client”.
Reconnect to Running Applications
You can now reconnect to a previously launched app. After launching an application in the Application Library, it will become available under the heading “Running Applications”. A user can then reconnect to the app, even if the original browser tab or COMSOL Client window housing the app was closed. Applications listed under Running Applications feature a unique session ID, a stop button to permanently close the app session, and a drop-down menu offering two reconnect options: in a browser or using COMSOL Client.
Create Desktop Shortcuts to Launch Applications
You can now create shortcuts to quickly access your most used applications from your desktop. First, open up an app's detailed view by clicking on its name or image. From there, you have the option to create a shortcut link that opens the application either in COMSOL Client or in your browser.
Improved Filtering and Sorting
The Favorites bar has been removed from the Application Library and replaced with an improved sorting and filtering mechanism. You can now filter apps by favorite status; application visibility (Public, All groups, Private); or by individual groups.
