Edge Effect in Electrodes Metal Contacts

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am using the Semiconductor module of COMSOL 4.4. I am modeling two electrodes over a semiconductor substrate. I applied a bias voltage to the electrodes, and I want to see the electric field due to the applied voltage. I am using ideal ohmic boundary conditions for the electrodes and isulation boundary conditions for the other boundaries. I am experiencing some edge effects at the intersection of the insulation boundary condition with the metal contacts. I was wondering if there was anyone that could tell me how to get rid of this edge effect. I am attaching a picture of the electric field results.

Thanks in advance. Jose Santos.
